Airline Information
Just about all major airlines fly into Denver; you will have to travel about 1 hour by car from there. Delta, United, Northwest, Alaska, Southwest, Frontier and others. The first thing you will need is a airline approved crate for each dog. The major airlines will accept a maximum 500 size. The next decision is where the nearest major airport near your home is. The reason for this is many of the flights from regional airports use smaller airplanes that will not accommodate the large crates. It is best to call the airline before you book your tickets to be sure the dog can come along. As long as you are flying from and through major airports there should be no problem.

Booking your flight:
Here are a couple of tricks that may help you secure a better schedule and rate. Go to Booking Buddy. This site will link you to all the major ticket brokers; Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, etc. Use them to search for the best price and schedule. Write down the schedule and price then call the major airline direct to see if they have a better deal. You will have to book your dog’s flight through the airline so this would save an additional call. Orbitz has a feature that will notify you when the price of the flight drops into a range you select. Good luck.

Getting To & From the Airport
We are looking into a local shuttle service.

Arriving in Estes Park:
If you are traveling with your dog then we will make arrangements to pick you up at the airport. You will need to let us know when you are arriving so we can be there. Notify us either by email Transportation Committee or telephone 1-406-280-0133. Should you be flying without your dog then the hotel will shuttle you to the hotel—call the hotel at (800)976-1377, they will appreciate 24 hour notice of your arrival.

Driving Directions
Via Yahoo Maps. Look here for a customized driving directions and map. Also good for calculating driving time and mileage.

When you get in the area here are detailed directions to the hotel.

Travel with Dogs
Arriving by car:
Traveling with your Leo is a fun event and you get to meet a lot of interesting people. Just a few basic cautions: bring water for the dog from home for the trip, some dogs react to strange water in very unpleasant ways; stop at least every 3 hours to let the dog out (good for you too), and keep the dog in a crate if possible or use a dog seat belt. I also leave a leash on the dog when traveling in the car with me so, in the event of an accident, it is easier for someone to catch or restrain the dog.

Where to stay in-route:
There are a number of web sites that offer lists of pet friendly motels; Lets Go Pets, Take Your Pet ($11.95 per year), Travel Dog ($9.95 per year), and Find Pet Friendly Hotels. Free Trip ($19.95 year) offers routing with pet friendly hotels listed on the way. Shilo Inns and Motel 6s universally accept pets.
